Second Video Reflection

In this second video I felt less nervous than the first one. I also had some problems as classroom management: Something that didn’t let me maintains the students focus in what I was doing were that outside the class were an activity. I think that my confidence affect but less than before because I felt more secure of what I was doing. I think that this time I did it better even when I had some factors against.

First Video Reflection

In this first I think I have some problems in which I am going to mention:

1. Class management: For was very difficult to maintain the attention of all the children in what I was doing and I had to call their attention several times but I think that one think that affect me was my tone of voice.

2. Nervousness: When I was in the class I was very nervous because I didn’t know if everything was going ok or if I was doing something bad. This was my first class I felt with a lot of nervous and in the class I think this was something that was pretty obvious.

3. Confidence: Since the moment I get into the class I felt lose confidence because even if I knew what I was doing and what I had to teach I didn’t know if I was ok or not. This affects me because in some moments I knew that I was making mistakes and my nervous and confidence didn’t let me do it ok.

4. Tone of voice: My tone of voice was really low and this was bad because even if some of the children were paying attention some of them were not, so when I called the attention to them it was like if I were talking to them.

But I think that since it was my first class I did it very well when I teach them and I’ll try not to commit this mistakes again. I think I really like to teach and be there in front of the class was really good because I really felt very well when everyone was learning from me but something that I have to manage are my nervous because it really affects me when I in front of the class.

Animals

When we see the topic of the animals we review all the animals with a poster and then they color pictures of different animams with crayons, paint or paste cut outs around the picture.

This is one of my lesson plans I used in the class:
The method is constructivism and the materials are: the flashcards and the super songs CD.



Introduction:

To start the class I have a warm up activity which is sing a song about the seven days and a good morning song. I ask: What day is today… What day was yesterday… and what day will be tomorrow… After this I called the name of the children to know who didn’t come. Then I start reviewing some topics and introducing a new one.

Shapes

I show the shapes in certain order and they repeat after me what it is. Then I mix them and I start showing it to them and asking what shape is it?

In this lesson I had to introduce a new shape (the star). I show it to them and then they heard a song called “twinkle, twinkle little star”.

After this they make an activity which was color the star with finger paint.

Colors

I review the colors they already know. Then I ask randomly what color is this? When I have to introduce a new color I show it to them and explain them what color it is with the flash card and mention some examples of pictures of this color. For example: The blue, I show them a car color blue.

Family

I start talking about the members of the family and I give them real examples. For example I said: Wanda’s mother is Fanny, Jeanfranco’s brother is Alex so they understand who I am talking about.

After I show them some flashcards of the family and then we play. What we do is that while the music is playing they should be walking around the class and when it stops they have to tell me who is the person in the flashcard (brother, sister, mother). As second activity they have to make a collage in which they are going to look for the different members of the family in a magazine.
